So we all know the story of Romeo and Juliet. Two young lovers who aren’t allowed to be together because their families hate each other. Have you ever wondered what happened after the two committed suicide. In a perfect world the Capulets and Montagues would see how pointless their found was and they would sign a treaty and live in peace. Personally I thought they would see it as a murder-suicide and go to war. Who really knows? No one, but the people over at Shondaland are going to give us the version of what they think happened in the new ABC series Still Star-Crossed.
Still Star-Crossed is a period drama that picks up where Romeo & Juliet left off, charting the treachery, palace intrigue and ill-fated romances of the Montagues and Capulets in the wake of the young lovers’ tragic fate. Based on the book by Melinda Taub, Still Star-Crossed will follow Rosaline played by Lashana Lynch (The 7.39, Fast Girls). The series will also star Pretty Little Liars alum Sterling Sulieman as Prince Escalus and Wade Briggs (Please Like Me) as Benvolio Montague.

Looks pretty interesting, right? I’m usually not a fan of period pieces but this had two things that I love, defiance and black people in lead roles that you know would usually have gone to white actors. I commend the people at ABC and Shondaland for making my TV so diverse.
